Managing Partner, Founder
Kirk assembled the team behind Timberwind so that he could achieve his goal of acquiring a business, relocating to manage the daily operations, and leading its team over decades. He believes that the independence of small businesses is central to our economy.
Born and raised in family businesses, Kirk Newcombe’s entrepreneurial roots stem from small-town Québec and a seaside fishing town in Maine. During high school and university he was commonly found in the family restaurant and bed & breakfast serving guests, preparing food, or making repairs on the property.
His experience spans finance, technology, education, and healthcare in SMBs, high-growth startups, and the enterprise. Most recently, Kirk supported the hyper-growth of Andela, a Mark Zuckerberg and Google-backed software engineering company with 800 employees.
Kirk also looks fondly upon his years with TD Bank where he served as a trusted advisor to business owners and operators whose passion mirror that of his family’s. It’s with this energy in mind that he aims to acquire and operate an independent family-owned company.
Kirk holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Commerce (Concentrations in Finance and Accounting) from McGill University in Montréal. A citizen of the United States, Canada and the Netherlands, Kirk speaks English, French, and Spanish. His professional experience includes the United States, Canada, England, France, Singapore, Nigeria, and Kenya.
